Join Student Conservation Association (SCA) and Friends of the Forest Preserves for an alumni work day at Dan Ryan Woods in Chicago!
WHEN: Saturday, March 9th, 10:00am – 1:00pm CST.
WHERE: Dan Ryan Woods. Meet in the parking lot next to hte 91st St. Metra station (9105 S. Prospect Square, Chicago, IL 60620). Free parking available.
WHO: Alumni of past SCA programs with the Student Conservation Association and Friends of the Forest Preserves.
WHAT: Restoration work cutting and burning woody invasive species/brush.
BRING WITH YOU: Please wear lots of layers, long pants, and sturdy work boots. Bring a reusable water bottle to stay hydrated.
**We will be working near a brush pile (a large fire where the invasive species being cut and removed are burned), so please wear clothes that you do not mind getting dirty or even damaged. Sometimes the embers from the fire can burn small holes in your clothes if you get too close!**
PROVIDED: Tools, water, and personal protective equipment (gloves, eye protection, hard hats) will be provided. Light refreshments and a celebration to follow the work day at 1:00pm.

TRANSPORTATION DETAILS:
Dan Ryan Woods is accessible on public transportation by taking the CTA Red Line to the 87th Street stop and from there taking the 87 bus west to the 87th and Western St terminal. Limited carpool rides available. You must RSVP for a carpool spot by emailing [email protected] no later than 3:00pm on Thursday, March 7th. If you do not RSVP to [email protected] you cannot carpool.
