Celebrate Earth Day by volunteering on Governors Island!
This year, Governors Island is open to the public on Earth Day for the first time! To celebrate, the Friends of Governors Island, in partnership with the Trust for Governors Island and the Student Conservation Association, invite New Yorkers and community members to join us on Saturday April 23rd for an Island-wide day of service and stewardship.
We will work all over the park on a series of quick, high-impact stewardship activities with our gardeners and Island partners. After you’ve lent a hand, enjoy the rest of the day on the Island with family friendly activities and special perks from our food and recreation vendors.
Event Schedule:
- 10-10:30am EDT Registration at the Parade Ground
- 10:30am – 1pm EDT Volunteer projects
- 1:30pm EDT Community Earth Day Celebration at the Parade Ground
Bring your friends, family, colleagues, or community group for a day of service and fun on Governors Island! All ages and ability levels are encouraged to participate. Tools and materials will be provided.
Advanced registration is required. Please email [email protected] with any questions.
