National Public Lands Day Service with NEEF, Washington, DC

National Public Lands Day 2014 will take place on Saturday, September 27th at more than 2,000 public lands sites across the nation. This year, SCA is partnering with the National Environmental Education Foundation—along with other Federal, city, and local partners—to host a special event to restore and protect Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens in Washington, DC.

WHEN: Saturday, September 17th, 9:00am – 1:00pm  

WHERE: Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens, 1550 Anacostia Ave., NE, Washington, DC 20019. Registration begins at 8:30am.

WHAT: Projects include removal of cut lotus from the park’s ponds as well as a variety of other park improvement projects including transplanting perennials, removing invasive species, and picking up litter.

BRING WITH YOU: Wear long pants and closed-toe shoes (boots are preferable). All project materials will be provided.

PROVIDED: Breakfast and lunch will be provided for all volunteers.
