Directed by Mr. Burns and co-produced with Dayton Duncan, who is also the series’ writer, “The National Parks” starts in the mid-1800s, when the parks were just an idea, and follows its evolution for nearly 150 years.
Filmed over the course of more than six years, the series features breathtaking images of some of nature’s most spectacular locales – from Acadia to Yosemite, Yellowstone to the Grand Canyon, and the Florida Everglades to the Gates of the Artic in Alaska. Tom Hanks, Andy Garcia and John Lithgow are among the actors who lend their voices to historical figures in the series. The narrator is actor Peter Coyote.
Burns and Duncan will be on hand to discuss the film and host a Q & A session.
A raffle for CD’s of the film’s music and the soon-to-be-published companion book, as well as other special items will happen after the screening.
Proceeds will benefit the Student Conservation Association and the Walpole Historical Society.
