Join the Student Conservation Association (SCA) and National Park Service (NPS) as we gather to Honor the Legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King and connect the issues of social and environmental justice by mobilizing the next generation of community stewards to help restore the Anacostia River and DC’s Urban Waterfront.
WHEN: Monday, January 20th, 10:00 am to 12:30 pm.* Registration & morning snacks beginning at 9:30 am. Work will conclude at 12:30 pm.
WHERE: Anacostia Park Skating Pavilion, 1500 Anacostia Drive, Washington, DC 20020.
BY PUBLIC TRANSIT: Take Blue Line to Potomac Ave Metro stop for a 20-minute walk to the Anacostia Skating Pavillion
BY CAR: For a complete list of driving directions please visit the NPS website at www.nps.gov/anac/planyourvisit/directions.htm. There is plenty of free public parking in the lot at the Roller Skating Pavilion.
WHAT: Volunteers will conduct a cleanup of the Anacostia River, removing trash from the shoreline to help improve the health of DC’s urban waterfront.
BRING WITH YOU: Wear long pants and sturdy shoes that you don’t mind getting dirty. Bring extra layers and a hat to prepare for the cold weather! Please also bring your own water bottle for staying hydrated.
PROVIDED: SCA will supply morning snacks, warm refreshments for volunteers as well as work gloves and all project supplies.
