Join SCA for Earth Day to help preserve historic Fort Wadsworth on Staten Island. With the support of American Express and in support of the Find Your Park campaign, SCA is mobilizing volunteers coast to coast in celebration of the National Park Service Centennial. Join us as we give back to NYC’s National Parks!
One of the oldest military defenses in the country, Fort Wadsworth has guarded the entrance to New York Harbor for over three hundred years. Part of Gateway National Recreation Area, the site offers sweeping views of the harbor, the Manhattan skyline, and the Verrazano Bridge. Volunteers will help to restore this historic site by repairing trails, repainting park structures, and removing invasive species. Some groups will complete additional projects at nearby Great Kills Park.
Free lunch and t-shirts will be provided for all volunteers!
WHEN: Saturday, April 16th, 9:30 am to 2:30 pm
WHERE: Fort Wadsworth, 210 New York Ave, Staten Island, NY 10305.
