Chicago: FIND YOUR PARK Day of Service for Earth Day

Join SCA for Earth Day to help preserve Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore. With the support of American Express and in support of the Find Your Park campaign, SCA is mobilizing volunteers coast to coast in celebration of the National Park Service Centennial. Join us as we give back to the Midwest’s National Parks!

Located 50 miles outside Chicago, Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore hugs 15 miles of the shore of Lake Michigan and offers 45 miles of trails over rugged dunes, mysterious wetlands, sunny prairies, meandering rivers, and peaceful forests. Volunteers will work to protect this National Park site through beach clean-up, trail maintenance, and invasive species removal.

Free lunch and t-shirts will be provided for all volunteers!

WHEN: Saturday, April 30th, 10:00 am to 2:00 pm 

WHERE: Kickoff at West Beach, Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore, County Line Road, Portage, IN 46368.

For participants traveling from Chicago, free volunteer shuttle buses will depart from the Loop and return to the city following the event. For participants traveling by the Chicago South Shore and South Bend Railroad, free volunteer shuttle buses will pick up volunteers at the Portage/Ogden Dunes South Shore stop. For participants traveling by private vehicle, free parking will be available on site.

WHAT: Volunteers will work to protect Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore through beach clean-up, trail maintenance, and invasive species removal.

BRING WITH YOU: Please wear long pants and closed-toe shoes, preferably work boots or sturdy sneakers, and bring a reusable water bottle. The event will take place rain or shine so please dress for the weather!

PROVIDED: SCA will provide lunch and snacks for all volunteers, as well as project materials, gloves, and free Find Your Park t-shirts!
