Washington, DC: Find Your Park Day of Service

Join SCA to commemorate the September 11th Day of Service and Remembrance at Lyndon Baines Johnson Memorial Grove at George Washington Memorial Parkway, located within view of both the Pentagon and the Washington Monument.  

With the support of American Express and in support of the Find Your Park campaign, SCA is mobilizing volunteers coast to coast in celebration of the National Park Service Centennial. This Find Your Park Day of Service will be the first of many taking place in the DC area over the next year. Join us at George Washington Memorial Parkway to honor the National Park Service and give back to your public lands.

WHEN: Saturday, September 12th, 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. 

WHERE: Lyndon Baines Johnson Memorial Grove, Washington, DC 20037. Registration and kickoff will take place within the grove adjacent to the Pentagon walking bridge. Free public parking is available in the Columbia Island Marina parking lot. The site is accessible by Metro via the Arlington Cemetery stop (Blue line). Directions below. 

WHAT: Planting, building picnic tables, clearing invasive plants, trash clean-up and more. There will be a variety of projects along the Parkway for volunteers of all ages. This work will help to preserve this recreational area for all DC residents and visitors.

BRING WITH YOU: Please bring your own water bottle. SCA will provide water fill-up stations and disposable cups. Please wear long pants and closed-toe shoes, preferably work boots or sturdy sneakers. Event will take place rain or shine so please dress appropriately for the weather. 

PROVIDED: SCA will provide lunch and snacks for all volunteers, as well as project materials, gloves, and volunteer t-shirts!
