ConSERVE NYC: August Service Event at Conference House Park, Staten Island

Saturday, August 16, 2014 - August 16, 2014 9:30 am

Join the Student Conservation Association for our August ConSERVE NYC event at Conference House Park on Staten Island!

Conference House Park marks the “South Pole” of New York, or the southernmost point in the state. The park offers panoramic views of Raritan Bay and New York Harbor, and is home to the Conference House and other historic buildings that date back to early settlement in the 17th century.

This month, SCA is joining up with the Natural Areas Volunteers to help sustain a new forest site planted in 2012. Volunteers will help to protect the young trees by removing invasive species including Oriental Bittersweet, Porcelainberry, Mile-a-Minute vine, and Japanese knotweed.

WHERE: Conference House Park, 298 Satterlee Street, Staten Island, NY 10307. Meet at the Conference House Visitor Center. Parking is available on site. Free shuttle service will also be provided from the Tottenville stop on the Staten Island Railway.
