Join SCA alum Jeff Chen and Pick Up America in Moab!
Jeff, who serves on SCA’s Alumni Council, is also co-founder of the Pick Up America Project. As the nation’s first coast-to coast litter pick up initiative, this youth-lead team has picked up more more than 145,000 pounds of litter across 2,000 miles of road so far. They do it to encourage and enact a transition toward zero-waste.
The team is coming to Moab and offers a number of cool projects you can join:
- Starting March 4: Jeff and his team will start picking up litter and heading west from the Utah/Colorado border at Old US Highway 6 & 50. Call Jeff at 301-523-1257 if you’d like to participate. They’ll walk and pick up trash most days ’til they get to Moab, Utah. If you’re coming, just give Jeff a heads up, and make sure you bring water and snacks.
- March 10, working with Arches National Park to pick up litter along Highway 191. For more details or to RSVP, visit the Arches Facebook Event Page.
- March 11, in the morning, picking up litter along the Half Marathon route. For more details or to RSVP, visit the Half Marathon Facebook Event Page.
- March 18, Peace-On-Earth-Bench Building Party at the Youth Garden Project. It’ll be a fun, music-filled, all-day potluck party. Drop by to help turn litter into a useful piece of art using Bottle Bricks. For more details or to RSVP, visit the Peace Bench Facebook Event Page.
If you have a Facebook account, you can RSVP on each event’s page. If you don’t have a Facebook account, you can RSVP by emailing Jeff or calling him at 301-523-1257 to RSVP. He’s hoping to hear from some fellow SCA alums, so please let him know if you’re an alum.
We hope you can help be a part of this great conservation movement! You can also help by putting up flyers. Get the flyer here.
