Canada-US Crew Celebration Day

Saturday, August 23, 2014 - August 23, 2014 5:00 pm

Please join the Skagit Environmental Endowment Commission, the Student Conservation Association, the North Cascades National Park, and the Skagit Valley Provincial Park for a celebration of the 28th Canada-US SCA crew.

There are two ways to join this great day: from the south (US side) or from the north (BC side).

From the US side – We will be meeting at 8:30am sharp at the Ross Lake Dam Trailhead parking lot, on Hwy 20 at milepost 134 (about 1.5 hours east of Sedro Woolley). We will hike down the trail (approx. 1 mile) to the boat launch. An NPS boat will take us on a scenic tour heading north up Ross Lake. Please bring proper border crossing documents with you. Sarah Zablocki-Axling (206-713-9576will be your main contact at the parking lot.

From the BC side – You will meet NPS staff at noon at the International Point Amphitheatre in Hozomeen. To get there, drive from Hope on the Silver/Skagit Road about 1.5 hours to the Northern end of Ross Lake. See map here: www.nps.gov/noca/planyourvisit/upload/hozomeen.pdf).  Your main contact for day of travel questions will be Sharlene Syer, Skagit Valley Provincial Park Staff (604-824-2305). Please bring proper border crossing documents with you.

Both groups will converge at the International Point Amphitheatre in Hozomeen for a picnic lunch provided by the Student Conservation Association. Please bring your own water or drinks and know this is a non-alcoholic, smoke-free, and pet-free event. Thank you.

Due to boat constraints, RSVPs are required: please respond by August 15th to Sarah Zablocki-Axling ([email protected]) and include (1) exact numbers and names in your party and (2) which direction you will be joining from. If you have further questions or special dietary needs, please contact Sarah Zablocki-Axling at [email protected] or 206-713-9576.

What to Bring:

  • Sunglasses and sunscreen
  • Rain gear and warm clothing (the boat ride can be chilly)
  • One quart of water per person
  • Daypack and sturdy footwear
  • Whatever you need to be comfortable with mosquitoes
  • Border documentation
