The SCA invites our DC-area alumni, current members, staff, friends, and supporters for a special day in Great Falls Park located only 15 miles away from our Nation’s Capital! Join us for a guided hike led by SCA alumnus and current Park Ranger, Ahmad Toure — then enjoy lunch and share stories with fellow SCA friends and alumni!

At Great Falls, the Potomac River builds up speed as it falls over steep, jagged rocks and flows through the scenic Mather Gorge. Come enjoy the breathtaking scenery on the cliffs along the banks of the Potomac River. Learn about the rich history of the Patowmack Canal, one of the first canals ever built in the United States.

WHEN: Saturday, November 5th, 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

WHERE: Great Falls Park, 9200 Old Dominion Drive, McLean, VA 22102

SCA will be offering shuttling from the metro via a program vehicle. The closest metro station is Greensboro Metro Station (Silver Line), which is about 5-6 miles away from the park. If you plan on driving, we highly recommend you collaborate with fellow attendees and carpool to the park, as parking is limited and tends to fill up on the weekends. Please indicate on registration if you can provide carpooling or need assistance getting to the park.

WHAT:

•   Connect with SCA and learn about SCA programs in DC.

•   Explore the natural and historical resources of Great Falls Park via a ranger-led guided hike.

•   Enjoy lunch and share stories with fellow SCA alumni.

WHO: SCA alumni, staff, current members, family, friends, and supporters throughout the DC metro area. Guests welcome!

BRING WITH YOU: Bring a reusable water bottle and dress for the weather. Please wear sturdy hiking shoes appropriate for a 3-mile hike. Lunch will be provided.
