Join SCA and MUFG on SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 17TH to restore Atlanta’s Chattahoochee River!
Since the establishment of Global Volunteer Month in 2013, MUFG employees all over the world have been working together on initiatives to host local contribution activities. SCA is proud to be a partner in this endeavor by facilitating opportunities for MUFG employees, family, and friends to engage in team-based service projects in 8 different cities. The projects will focus on some of the most urgent conservation needs in underserved urban communities.
Chattahoochee Riverkeeper (CRK) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting and preserving the Chattahoochee River, including its lakes, tributaries, and watershed, for the people and wildlife that depend upon them. MUFG employees will join SCA volunteers in Atlanta to help CRK preserve native habitat along the riverfront for future generations to enjoy.
WHEN: Saturday, February 17th, 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. Registration & breakfast beginning at 9:00 am, kickoff at 9:30. Work will conclude at 12:00 with lunch to follow.
WHERE: Metro Atlanta Area. Kickoff site TBA.
WHAT: Volunteers will be picking up trash in and around the Chattahoochee River or a tributary to the river. Trash may consist of plastic bottles, bags, balls (of every type), toys, tires, car parts, building materials, and yes even the kitchen sink. We will be wading in the water and/or walking along the banks. Even a little bit of bush-whacking might be involved.
WHAT TO WEAR: Wear clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty and WET. Please dress weather-appropiate (layering your clothes is the best) as we will be outdoors the entire time. Wear BOOTS (preferred), water shoes, or old sneakers (please NO sandals). Volunteers are highly encouraged to wear long pants as some of the trash we pick up can be sharp/jagged materials.
BRING WITH YOU: Please bring clean clothes and shoes to change into for your journey home.
PROVIDED: Breakfast and lunch will be provided, along with work gloves, safety gear, and all project materials. Reusable water bottles will be supplied along with water stations.
REGISTRATION: Please RSVP at http://SCA-MUFG-Atlanta.eventbrite.com to complete the online waiver.
