SCA Arbor Day Tree Planting in East Chicago, IN

Please join the Student Conservation Association (SCA) and the Mayor of East Chicago in planting 50 native trees in East Chicago on Friday, April 26th!

Planting will take place at Marktown Park in East Chicago, IN! Trees will be planted in celebration of Arbor Day!

 


WHEN:  Friday, April 26th 10:00am - 2:00pm CST. Registration beginning at 9:30am, kick-off at 10:00am.

The planting ceremony will begin at 10 am with words from Mayor Anthony Copeland and the tree planting demonstration. The ceremony will take place outside of the Recreation Center. Afterward, we will split into groups and plant trees in designated locations in Marktown Park.

WHERE:   Marktown Park is located off of Broad St. in East Chicago, IN 46312. Parking will be available along Broad St. and Pine Ave. as well as within the neighborhood. Please stop by the check-in table near the pavilion and recreation center when you arrive. Look for the Student Conservation Association work truck and trailer as well as the blue pop up tent! 

WHAT: Volunteers will plant, mulch, and water native trees.

BRING WITH YOU: Planting will take place rain or shine! Please dress for the weather. Plan to wear sturdy and close-toed shoes! Bring a reusable water bottle to stay hydrated. 

PROVIDED: All project supplies (tools, gloves, etc.) will be provided. Drinking water will be available throughout the event. Light snacks and refreshments will follow the planting
