This April, SCA is hosting 60 projects for Earth Day in honor of 60 years of SCA!

With national support from Exelon, we are aiming to connect our members, alumni, friends, and partners across the country to create a nationwide network of Earth Month celebrations.

Join SCA in Chicago to help restore the Burnham Wildlife Corridor, a unique 100-acre ribbon of urban wilderness that is the largest stretch of natural area along Chicago’s lakefront. The corridor encompasses five sections including 41st St. Bioretention, Burnham Centennial Prairie, Burnham West, Burnham Nature Sanctuary, and McCormick Bird Sanctuary. Volunteers will work at the McCormick Bird Sanctuary near the north end of the Corridor.

WHEN: Sunday, April 22nd, 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. Breakfast & check-in beginning at 9:00 am.

WHERE: Chicago Burnham Wildlife Corridor. Meet near the McCormick Bird Sanctuary — see map of exact meeting location. By public transit, take the Metro or Metrarail to McCormick Place and cross Lake Shore Drive via the pedestrian bridge.

WHAT: Volunteers will help to restore this unique urban wildlife corridor along the Lake Michigan waterfront by planting, mulching trails, and removing invasive species.

BRING WITH YOU: Please wear long pants and closed-toe shoes and bring a reusable water bottle to stay hydrated.

PROVIDED: SCA will supply coffee and snacks for volunteers as well as work gloves and all project supplies.
