50 West Monroe Partners Volunteers Join SCA to Restore Discovery Park

On the 9/11 National Day of Service & Remembrance, SCA teamed up with West Monroe Partners and Seattle Parks & Recreation to restore trails in Seattle’s Discovery Park. More than 50 West Monroe Partners employees spent the morning tackling challenging trail projects including installing culverts, resurfacing eroded trails, and constructing a stone staircase -– work that will help fortify trails throughout the park.

SCA’s Western Program Director Jarrod Ball thanked volunteers for giving back to the parks on 9/11: “Public lands depend on the support and sweat equity of volunteers. Taking time to give back is what the 9/11 National Day of Service & Remembrance is all about.”

Since 2007, West Monroe Partners has been a steadfast advocate of SCA. Dean Fischer, Executive Chairman of the Board of Managers of West Monroe Partners, served as an SCA board member from 2006-2014 and spent four of those years as the SCA board chair. Mr. Fischer recruited Tom Bolger, founder of West Monroe Partners’ Seattle office and current Managing Director of Strategic Growth, to join SCA’s board in 2014 and continue West Monroe Partners’ commitment to developing young leaders and bettering the communities in which the company’s staff and clients work and live.

West Monroe Partners has generously hosted SCA staff in their office space and made multiple financial donations, in addition to hosting events for stakeholders and service days for community members across the country, with a special interest in Chicago and Seattle. The 9/11 National Day of Service & Remembrance at Seattle’s Discovery Park was the second time this year that West Monroe Partners and SCA have partnered to provide service to the community.

SCA members from the Seattle area were excited to help facilitate the day and share stories of their SCA service experiences. “Everyone who volunteers makes a difference in society,” said CJ Goulding, an experienced SCA crew leader and chair of SCA’s Alumni Council. “It’s great to see West Monroe Partners out here today, promoting that ethic of service with their employees.”

Big thanks to West Monroe Partners for their continuing support of SCA programs across the country and to Seattle Parks & Recreation for hosting the group for a great day of service!
