As a long-time advocate for expanding volunteer opportunities for youth and young adults, the Student Conservation Association welcomes the introduction of a National Service Reserve into our country’s dialogue.
This concept, proposed by Hillary Clinton, would create new ways for young Americans to serve their communities and their country. More importantly, it would summon the best from our youth when others must confront the worst: floods, fire and other natural disasters, as well as other urgent needs.
The national leader in youth service and stewardship since 1957, SCA has seen time and again the powerful difference rendered by young people. We also recognize how empowering these experiences are for youth, as their acts of volunteerism fosters continuous growth, optimal advancement and lifelong success.
