For the second year in a row, SCA Youth spent three days camping at Kalaloch Campground on the Olympic Peninsula celebrating their year. This was the last trip of the year for Seattle Old Faithfuls (returning members of our community program) and when they weren’t continuing their conservation service and environmental education they did some reflection and enjoyed the Olympic National Park Pacific coast.
During this trip the crew volunteered 40hrs at a Beach Cleanup Event with CoastSavers. SCA found some small debris from the Japanese Tsunami of 2011 that continues to wash up on Washington’s coasts. SCA youth enjoyed the cleanup event as well as exploring Washington Coast geology and tide pools.
Highlights included seeing a whale carcass, hiking by Lake Quinault, and reflecting on their year of service with SCA.
