SCA Names Two to Senior Posts

Lauren Harnishfeger Appointed VP for Individual Giving and Foundation Relations; Christopher Jackson is Eastern Regional Vice President

(ARLINGTON, VA) January 22, 2015 – The Student Conservation Association (SCA), the national leader in youth service and stewardship, has announced two senior appointments:

  • Lauren Kass Harnishfeger has been named Vice President for Individual Giving and Foundation Relations.  A career fundraising officer, Ms. Harnishfeger most recently served as Vice President for Development with the National Building Museum. Prior to that, she held leadership positions with the National Park Foundation, Mount Vernon Estate and Gardens, and the Smithsonian Institution. 
    Harnishfeger holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art History from Trinity College, a postgraduate diploma in the Fine and Decorative Arts awarded by the Royal Society of Arts in London, and a Master of Arts in Museum Studies from George Washington University.
  • Christopher Jackson has been appointed as Vice President for the Eastern Region, and is responsible for establishing, maintaining and supporting SCA’s partner strategies including building and retaining program levels, and cultivating and increasing philanthropic giving in a territory stretching from Maine to Florida. 
    Mr. Jackson joined SCA in 2012, initially managing resource management partnerships out of the organization’s Seattle office.  Prior to that, he worked with Oregon State University’s College of Forestry, the US Forest Service and the City of Phoenix’s youth programs.  Mr. Jackson holds degrees in Rural Resource Management from Writtle College, England, and Recreation Management from Arizona State University.

Both positions are based in SCA’s national headquarters in Arlington, VA.
