SCA Intern protects and restores native plant and animal communities

CHILLICOTHE — In today’s economy, hands-on internships have proven to make a real difference for young professionals — and those same young people can make a real difference through national service.

That’s why Alex Palmer, an intern with the Student Conservation Association, has arrived at Hopewell Culture National Historical Park to protect and restore native plant and animal communities within the five National Park Service units that preserve the archeological remnants of the ancient Hopewell culture.

Palmer, 23, of Norfolk, Va., is one of more than 4,200 SCA members helping to protect and restore America’s public lands this year. … read full article
