To kick off the partnership, NRG employees will join SCA members in a joint ”Get Outdoors Day” service project at the Stamford Museum Nature Center today. SCA and NRG participants will work together to install new handrails and make improvements on a section of the ”Wheels in the Woods” universally accessible nature trail at the Center. In addition, NRG facilities throughout Connecticut will host SCA members in a series of educational and mentoring sessions planned throughout the year.
“SCA is grateful to NRG Energy, with whom we share many important values including service, diversity and sustainability,” says SCA President Dale Penny. “Thanks to NRG, SCA will connect more young people to nature and conserve the natural treasures here in Fairfield County and across the American landscape.”
“NRG supports SCA’s mission of building new generations of conservation leaders,” said Verne Shortell, NRG’s Executive Director of Environmental Business. “With this funding and our own volunteer efforts, we are pleased to help make SCA’s projects successful, while also making an investment in the environmental leaders of the future.”
