NH Corps visits the Audubon Society

Even though Bear Brook State Park is still covered with many feet of snow, spring is on its way! And with the change in seasons comes springtime celebrations such as Earth Day. The SCA NH Corps has partnered with the NH Audubon Society for the past few years to hold an interactive Earth Day event. This year’s event, planned for Saturday. April 11, has been under works since January. The service team, comprised of corps members Kelsey Churchill, Renee Harding, Nichole Sampson, Ben Spurrier, Rachel Snodgrass, Rachel Szczytko, Randal Weamer, and staff member Darin Radatz, met with event coordinators the Audubon Society on Monday, March 2, to hash out details for the event. Earth Day is shaping out nicely with activities including a disc-golf course, campfire & s’mores, multiple crafts, and bird-banding, among other. The service team even got to experience a classic Audubon event – a Raven feeding – after the meeting commenced. The service team plans to create a interactive display of the Service Learning Projects (fourth-grade students the SCA are teaching this semester will complete the Service Learning Projects) which will also be on display during Earth Day.
