We started off the week with our first midterm, in our outdoor adventure skills class. Everyone was well prepared and did a good job. We were also lucky enough to have a member of a search and rescue crew come talk to us and give us some good info about SAR and how to get involved.
Our work project for the week was to build a trail from the Audubon to the Rio Salado Habitat Restoration Area. We built the trail through the river bottom from the Audubon side and up the bank on the other side. During our time there we were able to see a variety of cool birds such as the great egret and a prairie falcon.
We capped off the week with a 9 mile hike / trail examination at the McDowell Sonoran Preserve in Scottsdale. We were able to see a broad range of trail building techniques that we will be able to use in the future. It was a great way to end the week.
