Originally from Texas, Phil joins the SCA’s Green Cities team after a year with the Trail Town Outreach Corps, where he helped to design a new business sustainability rating system and coordinated programs to gauge the economic impact and usage trends of the Great Allegheny Passage bike trail. Phil holds a degree in environmental studies and anthropology from Washington University in St. Louis, where he also took courses in architecture, urban studies, psychology, and business. His career goal is to become a sustainability-minded urban planner with a focus on both policy and design. In his free time, Phil lives his life through an endless list of hobbies, which includes traveling, hiking, graphic design, watching sports, and learning new things. Through his Green Cities Fellowship, Phil is working with Sustainable Pittsburgh to ramp up its Sustainable Business Designation Program and to pilot a sustainability certification system for municipalities in Southwestern Pennsylvania.
