As a native Southwestern Pennsylvanian, Michael spent his youth in the Boy Scouts hiking and biking the trails of the Laurel Highlands, sparking his love for the environment. After high school, he joined the Army, attended Marion Military Institute in Alabama, and earned his commission as an Army Officer. After his military service, he continued his education with a Master’s of Public Administration, focused in Sustainable Community Development.
During his military and academic career, Michael lived in several cities throughout the south, including Birmingham, Atlanta, Savannah, and Miami, absorbing the unique cultures and learning a wealth of sustainability issues facing these diverse city regions. Now that he has returned home to the Pittsburgh region, Michael is eager to dive into the Pittsburgh Sustainability Community, and roll up his sleeves to keep Pittsburgh the nation’s most “livable city”.
