This is our last full week working with fire, and this fact saddens us, but we managed to put half of the crew on stand by to possibly deploy with the Northern Colorado Interagency Handcrew which is a type 2 handcrew. While waiting for them to be called the crew worked on taking old slash and building handpiles, to burn in the fall we did about three football fields worth of handpiles, on the border of Rocky Mountain National Park and the Arapaho-Roosevelt National Forest. We are excited about the upcoming weekend where the crew is planning to climb it’s first fourteener, Longs Peak, and this fact continued gave those of us who were not on standby something to look forward to.
