John – Education and Conservation Team

•

Hi there, I’m John Savasta and I’m serving as a conservation education intern with SCA Manchester. I am from Massachusetts and grew up in a small seacoast town, Swampscott. My involvement with the Boy Scouts and frequent summer trips to northwest Maine has encouraged me to love and care for the environment. Botany is my favorite topic and I help my family plan and tend a vegetable and floral garden every summer.I have gained a few achievements in the past year that lead me to SCA Manchester. I graduated from Providence College in Rhode Island with a bachelor’s degree in Biology and a minor in Art History. In the summer of 2012 I was an SCA intern for the Vashon-Maury Island trust in Washington. It involved watershed restoration and maintenance along several of the creeks on the island.Aside from my interest in the natural sciences, I have an interest in visual design from working in an architectural firm for a few summers. I would like to use my visual design skills to improve landscapes in the environment with a goal to encourage a stronger connection between nature and people. My current aspirations are to become a landscape architect as a result of my two distinctive interests.
