Jessica Zimmerman, Project Leader

•

I am originally from the Quad Cities in Moline, Illinois. I graduated from the University of Wisconsin- Oshkosh in June 2011. I received my degree in Environmental Studies with a minor in Sociology.

My first experience with the SCA was in the summer of 2011 as a Wilderness Ranger Intern in the Pacific Northwest. My team was responsible for conducting campsite inventories in the backcountry of various wilderness areas of Oregon and Washington. My first Project Leader season was in the summer of 2012 at the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore leading Native Plant Corps members. We planted thousands of native plant species, treated invasive species, and improved the viewshed during our partnership with the National Park Service.

I look forward to the upcoming 2013 season working with the City of Gary and the Northwest Indiana Redevelopment Authority to install Green Stormwater Best Management Practices under the EPA Great Lakes Restoration Initiative.
