SCA is monitoring Hurricane Matthew as it moves up the East Coast of the United States. We have contactedall members and partners in the affected areas with specific instructions to ensure a coordinated response to this situation. SCA has also placed its Incident Response Team on stand-by should additional actions become necessary.
Along with following emergency procedures at their respective sites, SCA members in the hurricane’s path are encouraged to take the following steps to reduce any potential storm-related risk:
- Gather emergency supplies including at least three days of water and food, batteries and flashlights, blankets and other necessities
- Seek shelter in a safe place, if necessary
- Avoid after-storm risks including downed power lines, flooded areas and spoiled food
