As a Canadian-American citizen, I spent the past four years studying the environment while living in the city, at McGill University in Montreal, Quebec. I finally got my hands dirty on a Field Study Semester in Barbados, where I learned about aquaponics and permaculture gardening, got SCUBA certified and caught some waves. This summer I returned to my roots in sunny Boulder, Colorado and volunteered in the Information Office at Rocky Mountain National Park, where I expanded my knowledge and experience of the beauty and challenges of mountain life. This season, I’m looking forward to exploring the Mojave Desert, contributing to conservation projects, and meeting new friends to share in the extremes of life in the desert. After the season, I hope to hike north on the Pacific Crest Trail or drive up the west coast to see the redwoods and on into British Columbia.
