•
PLYMOUTH, NC – June 7, 2016 – Volunteers from Domtar Corporation and the Student Conservation Association (SCA) will engage in spring cleaning at William Flowers Waterfront Park in Plymouth on Saturday, June 11, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Domtar employees and their families will join local SCA volunteers at various points along the Roanoke River to improve the health of the waterway and beautify local green spaces for area residents. Projects include repairing the community boardwalk, removing invasive plants and hauling away debris.

“We don’t just work in Plymouth, we live here, so giving back to the community is important to both Domtar and our employees,” said Domtar’s President and Chief Executive Officer John D. Williams. “And by partnering with the Student Conservation Association, we’re able to advance SCA’s mission of building the next generation of conservation leaders.”

“With the official start of summer only days away, this is a perfect time to volunteer in support of this popular park,” added SCA Events Manager Ann Pedtke. “Domtar employees always give their best at our conservation and sustainability projects, and we’re looking forward to our day of service in Plymouth.”

The Williams Flowers Waterfront Park project is one in a series of community collaborations between Domtar and SCA. Previous efforts have improved municipal, state and provincial parks in Waco, TX; Greenville, NC; Kingsport, TN; Lancaster, SC; Nekoosa, WI and Montreal and Windsor, QC, among other locations.  Domtar also supports SCA’s engagement of thousands of local youth in conservation projects in more than 20 major U.S. and Canadian cities.
