My name is Darrel Thompson . I was born in Bethel, Alaska. I’m half Yupik and half Umatilla. My dad, Jon Nicolai Jr, is from Upper Kalskag, Alaska. My mom, Margo Thompson, is from Umatilla, Oregon. I have two brothers and two sisters. Curtis Thompson is my older brother, I’m the second oldest. Stephanie Thompson, Cheyenne Thompson, is my younger sisters. Steven Thompson is my little brother.
I went to West Anchorage High School. I never went to any higher education. My work history was, with Cook Inlet Tribal Council, and the Anchorage School District. I got to teach the Anchorage Schools, how to do the native games and native dance. I was also one of the judies for the Native Youth Olympics. These are the thing I love to do. Singing and dancing is what drives me. Table tennis is one my favorite hobbies.
James Flynn is one of my friends that showed me about Student Conservation Association. He did the youth program, with SCA. James said I should go try to work for SCA. I hope to get more knowledge about conservation and leadership. I don’t know what or where I’m going to do after SCA, but I think SCA would give me a bigger field of work.
