Connection Made: High Spirits and Hard Work in Las Vegas

•

Southwest Airlines volunteers were out in full force at Charles Frias park in Las Vegas on Wednesday. With warm weather and sunshine, SWA pilots, grounds-ops, accounts staff, and many more were in high spirits and good humor at the third SWA + SCA Connect with the Community day of service. The volunteers cleaned trash from a newly protected area and removed stakes supporting trees. There was excitement with how quickly time flew and the 690 gallons of trash removed.

Other volunteers powered through their projects freeing 55 trees of their pairs of stakes within the first hour allowing them to transition to other much needed tasks removing weeds and additional trash blown or washed into the park. At the end of the afternoon, one inspired volunteer remarked, “it just feels really good to give back!” Team SWA + SCA were the first ever volunteer group at Charles Frias Park, and parks staff greatly appreciated the efforts to keep the newly popular park pristine.
