Celebrating 100 Years of the National Park Service

In advance of the National Park Service’s centennial in 2016, SCA and the Park Service are innovating again to field 70 “Centennial Volunteer Ambassadors” assigned to leading national parks across the country. These interns – undergraduate, graduate students and younger military veterans from diverse backgrounds – will activate park enthusiasts and reach out to new audiences as they contribute to the building momentum for the 100th anniversary of America’s Best Idea.
Through June 5th, the SCA Centennial Volunteer Ambassadors are cramming at special orientation sessions at Valley Forge National Historical Park in Pennsylvania and Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado, gearing up for their year-long internships in which they will front scores of hands-on service projects and community events – and share every highlight and their insider’s points of view on national parks through social media.
