My name is Ben Milius, I am from northeast Iowa. I joined the Army right out of high school in 2003. After spending three years in the Army, I worked in a factory back in Iowa for a few years. Wanting a job I would enjoy I decided to go back to school. I just completed my two year degree in Natural Resource Management, at a junior college in Iowa. I am going to finish up and get my four year degree in Conservation Management from Upper Iowa University. When at my junior college I received a fire class about wild land firefighting. I enjoyed my fire class, and wanted to try wild land firefighting. Then I received a flyer about the Student Conservation Association’s Veteran Fire Corps Teams, from my veteran affairs office at my school. After reading the about the program, I thought it would be a great opportunity to get some firefighting experience and meet other veterans. As I finish writing this bio, I have met my team and think we are going to have a great summer.
