Hey good lookin’,
I’m Ben. Let me tell you a short story. There once was a guy from Tulsa who, through a strange series of unforeseen events, ended up at the University of Oklahoma, pursuing a degree he thought would surely lead to his lifelong career. However, that would have been too easy… and boring… and full of debt. Instead, he took his B.S. in Health & Exercise Science and traveled halfway across the world. It was in Taiwan that he discovered his love for nature and just how important preserving it was, not only for himself but for everyone. So he came home and got more and more involved with the outdoors: hiking, camping, and his personal favorite, bouldering, became a huge part of his life. He loved that no matter how experienced you were or how educated you were, nature always had something to teach you, and monotony was never an issue (hey, that rhymed). So, being the adventure seeker he was, he looked for ways to make his dream of a life spent outdoors a reality. 10 SCA applications, 2 jobs, and 1 engagement later, he was offered this summer position in Northeast Oklahoma and could not be happier. As for the future, he hopes to work with children again, as he also developed an admiration for teaching troubled kids while in college. Perhaps he could use the great outdoors to teach valuable skills and help youngsters develop a sense of responsibility for the world around them. If you asked him, I’m pretty sure that’s what he would say his ultimate goal is.
Thanks for reading, and if you want to send the cool guy from my story a compliment about, oh I don’t know, how cool he is or something, let me know and I’ll make sure he gets the message… about how cool he is.
