- The first St. Patrick’s Day parade was not held in Ireland but in Boston in 1737. The John F. Kennedy National Historic Site in Boston now has a year-long interpretive position available that includes historical research, creating web features, and planning for the site’s 50th anniversary in 2017. - America’s shortest St. Patrick’s Day parade is held every year in Hot Springs, Arkansas – more than 40 floats, bands and other groups march the entire length of Bridge Street: just 98 feet!
