Howdy HO! My name is Alex Barton and I am a proud New Hampshire native.  In fact, I’m the only one from NH in my program this year (don’t fear, fellow New Hampshirites! People from the outside aren’t so scary)!! I loved growing up in New England, and after finishing high school I decided that I’d stick around the area for a bit longer.  This past May, I graduated with a B.A. in Anthropology and Environmental Studies from a little school in Maine.  College expanded my horizons and enabled me to explore my passions for nature and people both scientifically and creatively.  I feel fortunate, though, that I’ve been able to take this passion outside of New England.  My studies in college and my escapades afterward have taken me throughout many northeastern forests and mountains, onto the savannas of East Africa, into the city markets and rural byways of Charleston, SC, and, most recently, out onto the deserts of the American southwest.  Now, here at Bear Brook, I get to teach and LEARN at the same time!  What a world!  Go get it!
