My journey with the SCA began in high school when I found a flyer describing the conservation crew program.  Intrigued and looking for adventure, I decided to spend a month in the woods of Vermont learning about trail maintenance.  From that point on I was hooked on conservation work and being in the outdoors.  I studied Environmental Science at Marist College in the beautiful Hudson Valley and gained research skills while studying the effect of different pollutants on the growth of plants.  After college, I decided to head back to the outdoors and maintained parts of the Pacific Crest Trail in southern California.  Now, after spending some time in graduate school learning about geostatistics and GIS, I’m looking to gain some practical experience with the Community Wildfire Protection Plan Team.
