2021 Edmonds Summer Leader

Program Dates: July 6th – August 6th 2021

Training Dates: ­Virtual Leader Training June 21st - 25th, 2021; Local Edmonds Training: June 28th -July 2nd 2021 (mandatory paid training)

Primary Responsibilities:

As a Crew Leader you lead, supervise, transport, and mentor a team of five high school youth, ages 14-19 for six weeks (Mon-Fri). Complete an assortment of hands-on conservation projects including trail construction and rehabilitation, natural resource enhancements, and general trail management across multiple City of Edmonds sites. Plan and lead weekly educational field days and integrate career exploration, leadership development, and team building. Lead a three-day, 2-night camping trip with the crew at Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest (July 19th-21st). Administrative and reporting duties are required as they relate to data management, photo documentation, and youth assessments. Crew leaders will also be expected to facilitate a provided environmental education curriculum. Crew Leaders will conduct daily health screening questionnaires with their members and monitor all work activities to ensure that participants are following COVID-19 safety protocols.

Seattle, WA: SCA Earth Day at Washington Park Arboretum

Join Student Conservation Association (SCA) and Washington Park Arboretum on Saturday, April 20th to restore Washington Park Arboretum in Seattle, WA!

This Spring, SCA is hosting projects nationwide to honor Earth Day. With national support from American Express and Southwest Airlines, we are aiming to connect our members, alumni, friends, and partners across the country to create a nationwide network of Earth Month celebrations.

In Seattle, volunteers will help remove invasives, weed, and mulch at Washington Park Arboretum.

SCA Alumni Network Event at the NAAEE Conference

What better way to meet colleagues in the environmental education field than to spend your open evening networking over a few drinks? Prior to the NAAEE sponsored Suds Stroll, SCA will be hosting a FREE pre-pub crawl happy hour at O'Doherty's Irish Grille (the first venue on the stroll) for our alumni attending the conference or who live in the Spokane area. Enjoy beer, cocktails, light fare, and great conversation.
