Wilderness Ranger

North Fork, Idaho is a small village with not many services ... however the city of Salmon, Idaho 22 miles away is larger and has grocery stores, movie theater, farmers market, and many other amenities. Interns will be housed on days off on the banks of the Salmon River at a historic ranger station.

Interns will work with USFS Wilderness Rangers within the Frank Church - River of No Return Wilderness to accomplish goals for managing wilderness. Interns will work 8 days on / 6 days off in theĀ 'Bighorn Crags' area of wilderness; an area full of mountain lakes, and scenic granite spires. Work includes trail clearing, cleaning camps, speaking with visitors, and wilderness monitoring.
