50th Anniversary Crew Leader Reunion at Western Crew Leader Training!
When: Saturday and Sunday, June 2-3, 2007
Where: Camp Don Bosco, Carnation, Washington
Who: All SCA Crew Leader Alumni who are in the area are welcome to join current Crew Leaders during training.
SCA’s longest running program is its high school crew program, launched in 1957 in Olympic and the Grand Tetons national parks. Over the years, the program has been called, variously, Conservation Corps, High School Program Groups, Conservation Work Crews, and now Conservation Crews. But the success of the program in immersing high school youth in a safe adventure in our nation’s wild places, hasn’t hinged on its name. It’s hinged on our Crew Leaders.
This year, in celebration of SCA’s 50th anniversary, we invited all past Crew Leaders to join us for a celebration at either the Eastern Crew Leader Training in New York or the Western Crew Leader Training in Washington. The alumni gathering started with Saturday evening dinner, a celebration/ceremony and then our much anticipated yearly event – our contra dance. After breakfast Sunday morning, alumni Crew Leaders headed home and training for the 2007 anniversary season continued.
