Lake Clark National Park and Preserve field headquarters in Port Alsworth, Alaska. This position is located in the heart of a four million acre wilderness park. Port Alsworth is an Alaska bush community is NOT connected to the road system. Interns will be stationed at this location for the duration of the internship.
You will work with park staff to welcome and orient park visitors to the Lake Clark National Park Visitor Center in Port Alsworth and provide a variety of interpretive services, including but not limited to: orienting visitors to the park and briefing them on recreational opportunities and places of interest; giving tours of outdoor exhibits; conducting nature walks, and developing short interpretive programs on topics related to the park's natural and cultural history. You will also assist park staff with planning and coordinating an evening lecture series featuring park staff and researchers, and organize events and present programs for children and families.
