Vegetation and Ecological Restoration Intern

You will assist the Resources Management and Science Division staff with implementing important ecological monitoring as part of a small team or a larger crew, participating in resources monitoring by collecting scientific data used to assess vegetation condition. The position will require backpacking to remote wilderness locations to access field sites.EDUCATIONAL AND RECREATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES: Opportunity to earn field skills in vegetation and impacts monitoring, GPS data collection, and some vegetation data collection methods. Opportunity to gain office skills by using a variety of technological equipment, including, but not limited to: computers, total station surveying equipment, GPS units and related GIS software. Opportunity to attend: Monthly Croaking Toad which are presentations related to Resources Management and Science concerns that are open to NPS and community members; Monthly Yosemite Forum which are presentations related to Resources Management and Science concerns that are open to the public. On your own time there are boundless recreational opportunities available in Yosemite National Park and the surrounding communities such as: rock climbing, hiking, observing nature, bicycling, kayaking, fishing, swimming, and more. Many community events take place in El Portal such as Sal`s Taco night and Community Gathering, Yosemite Employees Association sponsored dances, concerts, dinners and events, and more. Additionally, you will receive a discount at the Yosemite Valley General Store.
