A Successful Summer!

SCA Houston had a very successful summer season, with 36 youth completing either a six week or a three week crew program. Members came from all over Houston and worked in seven different parks:

  • the Houston Arboretum and Nature Center
  • Last Organic Outpost's Emile Street Farm
  • Memorial Park
  • Sheldon Lake State Park
  • the Spring Creek Greenway
  • Terry Hershy Park
  • Westbury Community Garden

In addition, the members also were able to take part in fishing and archery activities and learned about different "green job" opportunities in the Houston area.

SCA Houston is looking forward to our fall service events and will be recruiting for the 2012-2013 School Year Program, a volunteer program that has members performing conservation service projects and going on camping trips one weekend a month from December through April. Applications are available here on the SCA website and if you have any questions, feel free to contact our Program Coordinator at 713.520.1835 or scaHouston@thesca.org.
