re you interested in working in the natural environment?  You could work outdoors, learning about nature and the role the US Fish and Wildlife Service plays in conserving and protecting a few natural spots just south of the nation’s capital.  Your spring semester would be spent working with a variety of folks performing their day-to-day duties on a National Wildlife Refuge.  During your summer you would spend time with a visitor services specialist.  You would be exposed to all the Potomac River National Wildlife Refuge Complex has to offer.  Having a car is a necessity.  Your duties would be as follows: Support the Visitor Services Manager in duties related to environmental education, Interpretation, wildlife observation and photography activities; ensure refuge visitor contact station remains open on days assigned to engage with the public; staff and work local festivals; assist with Introduction to Archery staff programs; and other duties as assigned.
  • Northern Virginia (Woodbridge, VA and Lorton, VA)
  • The member will receive on-the-job training related to public recreation with a concentration on conservation-focused activities. The member will be included in team activities and will be encouraged to participate in all facets of refuge operations.
  • As we are likely to have an additional YCC Crew next year. The member will be encouraged to participate during environmental education days and will also participate in our staff days, when we take time to visit local sites and work on our team.
