The intern will participate in a wide variety of conservation and recreation management activities in a state park setting.

Working under the direction of State Park professional staff, the State Parks Conservation and Recreation Internship is an opportunity designed for participants to obtain work experience in all facets of park operations.  Duties may include, but are not limited to, natural and cultural resource management; facility, grounds and equipment maintenance management; interpretation and education programming and management; customer service; marketing and promotional programming; park patrols to include visitor contact and law enforcement observation. Participants may also perform special projects or assignments in activities of special personal interest and will attend selected training programs to enhance the overall working knowledge and skills related to park operational and management activities.
  • Positions will be located in a Texas State Park in the greater Houston, Texas area. Housing will be available on site.
  • The member will receive training in interpretive techniques, facility maintenance, personnel management and conservation of natural and cultural resources.
  • Participants will work with professionals in the fields of history, archeology, botany, biology and other resource fields.

    Numerous on-site recreational opportunities will be available, including hiking, birding, fishing and nature observation.
