Interpretation Ranger Intern

The intern will work as an interpretation ranger intern at Olympic National Park in Port Angeles, Washington. Intern will work both alongside experienced park rangers and independently. Duties include staffing a visitor center (face-to-face, phone, and email contacts), informal interpretation, preparing and presenting interpretive programs, and working with school groups. Interns may also assist with a variety of projects including website updating and exhibit development. Training is provided.

  • Olympic National Park is located in the northwest corner of Washington state. This nearly one million acre park encompasses incredible diversity—from wilderness coast and temperate rainforest to glacier-capped peaks. Internships are based in Port Angeles, a community of 19,000 with full services.
  • Intern will receive orientation to the park, training in interpretation and park operations, and will work with experienced NPS rangers.
  • The park is almost 1 million acres of forest, coast, and mountains, over 95% of which is wilderness, and offers countless opportunities.
