Geographic Information Systems Support Intern

Position ID
Under the supervision of Park GIS Specialist, you will provide GIS, database and GPS support to end users. You will help support overall GIS projects, including web delevopment, data management of spatial and non-spatial datasets, augmenting the GIS database by digitizing mapped information, importing existing digital data, and converting data. You will also assist in all mapping needs and provide support for Trimble and Garmin GPS equipment.

  • In the community, many events happen throughout the summer including open mic nights, community dances, arts and lecture series, community movie nights and baseball games, theatrical presentations, and small music festivals. Although you do not need a vehicle to support your work, many find one helpful to explore the rest of Alaska.
  • On your own time, there is an amazing amount of things to do in the local area - numerous day hikes to mountain peaks, hiking on glaciers, ice climbing, river rafting, flight seeing, overnight camping, and multi-day wilderness backpacking trips.
