Two chain saw sawyer positions are available to work on a hazardous wildland fuels reduction project.  Duties include cutting brush; falling, limbing and bucking small diameter trees using power tools such as chain saws and brush cutters; and hauling, stacking and chipping cut material. ”A” Faller qualification at a minimum is encouraged, although sawyers with extensive previous experience wothout the “A” or higher qualification may be considered.   
  • Located at 6,000 feet elevation, the small town of Crown King is small community in the Southern Bradshaw Mountain Range approximately 2 hours drive north of Phoenix, Arizona. The upper half of the 28 mile dirt road from the highway follows for the most part the old railroad bed that came to town in the early part of the 20th century. The town is nestled in a pine forest surrounded by the Prescott National Forest. Although Crown King was founded due to the mining activity in the area, today the main income to the community comes from tourism. There are numerous hiking trails throughout the area, and a small lake 7 miles away in Horsethief Basin.
  • An orientation addressing the community and the hazards it faces; receive training in the need for fuels reduction and assessing wildfire hazards in an Urban/wildland interface; maintenance and operation of equipment used in the project
